Suitcase Title.jpg
Designing luggage for single-arm use.
The target audience of my design is individuals with only one hand available when going through the airport. This is specifically focused on individuals who are missing one hand/arm physically or functionally, but benefits can also be seen by those who cannot use an arm due to other circumstances. This includes, but is not limited to injuries, carrying a baby, holding a child's hand, or simply walking with one hand occupied.

Connection System

Platform locks into a ninety-degree surface to provide support as well as act as an alignment aid. The latch folds down and locks into place to create a secure lock between the two bags that are easily unlocked with a click of a button on top of check-in luggage.

Brake Up

Brake Down

The brake system allows for easy connection and disconnection of the two suitcases. Simply step down on the brake and it locks into place. Rubber treads stop checked luggage from rolling away when applying pressure. To release the brake, simply click the button located directly above it, and the brake will return back to the upright position allowing for free movement of the suitcase(s).

Handle adjusts from the center of the luggage, lowering the center of gravity and allowing for all wheels to remain on the ground at once.

One Handed Pocket Access

A self-sealing zipper combined with magnetic connection points creates a safe and secure pocket that allows for easy access with only one hand.
